2024 CANADIAN NATIONAL DMC SCRATCH CHAMPIONSHIPS

THIS IS AN ONLINE EVENT FACILITATED VIA VIDEO SUBMISSION DIRECTLY TO DMC CANADA.

IT IS OPEN TO ALL CANADIAN DJS COAST TO COAST.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 21ST, 2024 @ 11:59PM 2024 EDT

NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED

ABOUT THE EVENT This competition is based on the world renown, classic 2-Minute DMC Scratch Competition. One Round, winner takes all! The 2024 Canadian National DMC Scratch Champion will move on to represent Canada at the 2024 Technics DMC World DJ Championships

(Scratch Category) in Paris, France.

REGISTRATION & GUIDELINES:

1) This event is open to Canadian DJS only. You must be a bonafied Canadian citizen or have 6 years of residency here in order to compete.

2) Submit your best 2-Minute Scratch video to DMC Canada via WeTransfer.com

RECORDING PROCEDURES:

- Your video must be a one take and MAY NOT be edited in any manner.

- Competitors are free to use whatever beats they prefer to scratch to.

- The video recording must be in 16:9 format, with a minimum full HD resolution (1920×1080). Audio must be recorded directly from the mixer.

- Do not include logos, watermarks, nicknames, etc. in the recording. Do not change the frame. As mentioned, it must be one uninterrupted take from one perspective that shows competitor and equipment, NOT a close-up of the hands and equipment.

- Cuts, frame changes, animations and similar video editing are not permitted.

- The recording MUST NOT contain visually indecent content (nudity, pornography, etc.)

- The recording cannot exceed the set time by more than 4 seconds. Entries that do not meet the technical requirements of the recording and rules of conduct will be automatically disqualified, regardless of the level of performance presented in them.

3) Our esteemed judging panel will rank all of the competitors in the 2024 DMC Canada Scratch Championships and the Top 3 DJs will be awarded prizing courtesy of our generous sponsors.  The 2024 Canadian National DMC Scratch Champion will be awarded travel (+ accommodations) to compete at the 2024 Technics DMC World DJ Championships in the Scratch Category.

EQUIPMENT INFORMATION

1) All competing DJs are required to utilize a minimum of one standard turntable and mixer, the suggested traditional setup includes a pair of turntables and mixer. Portable turntables are NOT permitted.

2) Rane Twelves are permitted. Phase is permitted when utilized with turntables.

3) CDJS, midi-controllers, external effect units, sequencers, dicers, foot pedals, mobile phones etc. ARE NOT PERMITTED.

GENERAL INFO:

The 2024 Canadian National DMC Scratch Champion will adhere to the rules, format and equipment specifications at the 2024 Technics DMC World Championships.
