The biggest DJ competition on the planet returns to Europe and historic Paris for the first time in 26 years as the quest for the 2024 World Champion title begins.
Saturday October 19th will witness 20 National DMC Champions from around the globe descend to one of the city’s most beautiful venues for the biggest night on the turntable calendar.
After a consecutive run of 23 years holding the World Finals in London, 2023 saw DMC launch their new global strategy of hosting Turntablism’s most prestigious battle in different cities every year – and boy did the west coast of the U.S. deliver as New Zealand’s K-Swizz and France’s DJ Topic both successfully defended their Classic and Supremacy titles at The Midway in San Francisco.
“This year’s competition will be the fiercest yet” admits DMC’s Dan Prince. “We have three new DMC territories which will mean the standards will be higher than ever – and we are super thrilled to be hosting the Final at such a breath-taking venue.”
With Poland, Thailand and West Africa now joining the DMC family, competitors from as far afar as Australia, Japan and China will compete for the trophy and the most famous jacket in the music world.
“It has taken far too long for the DMC World DJ Championships to return to the magnificent centre of artistic culture, Paris” says DMC Founder Tony Prince. “Year after year new French DJ talent has arrived to push our art on and upwards, we regard C2C as important to DJ creativity as anything we have witnessed since we launched in 1985 whilst French champions such as DJ Fly, Netik, and DJ Skillz will both go down in DMC history.”
There have been so many memorable nights in DMC Final night history; James Brown, Public Enemy, Janet Jackson and Run DMC appearing at The Royal Albert Hall, DJ David spinning on his head at Wembley, DJ Rena and A-Trak winning the world title aged 12 and 15 respectively and Whitney Houston appearing at the first ever final. But for many, Paris in 1998 will remain one of THE nights in DMC folklore as 8000 people witnessed Craze win the first of his three consecutive World Titles...
“After 26 long years, the prestigious DMC World Championships is finally back in Paris” cheers DMC France’s Wilfrid de Baise. “I am so proud of my country which has produced more World Champions than any other – we will also be celebrating 40 years of French Hip Hop in 2024 which makes this year’s Championships simply unmissable. This year’s DMC’s are the REAL Olympics Closing Ceremony!”
