General rules for 2022 DMC World DJ Competitions
NEW to 2022
DJs will need to submit their Elimination and Final sets together for all competitions except the Battle for World Supremacy. World Team DJs only submit a Final 6 Minute routine.
Final sets cannot be submitted after the closing date of the submission period.
• Free to enter.
• Open to any DJ, of any age, from around the world.
• Judges may include DMC World Champions and DJs with recognised international credibility and reputation.
• A DJ can only enter once per competition.
• Except for the DMC World Team Championship, competitors must be bonafide nationals in their country of entry or be able to prove that they have resided in that country for a minimum of 6 years. (If you are not a National of the country you reside in, you may enter under your passport country).
• DMC retains rights to change the rules of the contest whereby and when, in their opinion, it is in the interest of the events competition fairness. The decision of DMC is final.
• The champion of the previous year is invited to defend their title.
DJ Video submission
NEW to 2022
DJs will need to submit their Elimination and Final sets together for all competitions except the Battle for World Supremacy. World Team DJs only submit a Final 6 Minute routine. Final sets cannot be submitted after the closing date of the submission period.
• No graphics or signage can be added to video submissions.
• All videos must be uploaded before 11:59 pm GMT on their due date.
• Videos cannot be longer than 4 seconds overtime limit.
• DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be automatically rejected.
• For reasons of quality, videos must have direct audio (ie: audio must be directly recorded from the sound source into your recording device and not recorded through an external microphone on a phone or computer).
• A video entry must not contain nudity, pornography or sexually explicit visual content. The video will be removed if it contains content of this nature.
• DMC reserves the right to delete any entry deemed to be inappropriate.
• Competitors must respect Youtube’s regional terms and conditions and Youtube’s community guidelines.
• Video editing is not accepted (DJs cannot edit two or more different performances into one set). DJs must submit a non-stop performance. There are no restrictions on creative film presentation, for example – multi-camera angles, blue/green screen techniques, video back-drop, providing the recording is continuous from start to finish.

April 11 – May 28
DJs show off their Scratch skills on portable turntables.
NEW to 2022
DJs will need to submit their Elimination and Final sets together for all competitions except the Battle for World Supremacy.

Submissions open 11 April – Closing date 2 May @ 11:59 pm GMT for both Elimination & Final sets
• Elimination Round: DJs submit a 1 minute Scratch video.
• Final Round: All DJs to submit a 2 minute Scratch video.
• This DJ competition is for solo entry only.
• The only gear permitted is an analogue only battery-powered portable turntable and vinyl records. A battery-powered analogue mixer or fader is acceptable.
• Any DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be automatically rejected.
• Any video that is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
• Judges will decide which DJs advance to each round and the winner, second and third places.
02. 2022 DMC World Beat Juggling Championship
May 1 – June 11
Turntablists will re-arrange sounds to create an entirely new composition.

Submissions open 1 May – Closing date 16 May @ 11:59 pm GMT for both Elimination & Final sets
• Elimination Round: DJs submit a 1-minute video.
• Final: All DJs to submit a 2-minute video.
• Judges will determine the top winner, second and third-placed.
• Any DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be rejected.
• Any video that is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. •
This DJ competition is for solo entry only.
• All DJ equipment is permitted.
• Judges will decide which DJs advance to each round and the winner, second and third places.
03. 2022 DMC World All Vinyl Championship
May 17 – July 9
A purely true school DJ battle experience using all vinyl records.

DJs will need to submit their Elimination and Final sets together for all competitions except the Battle for World Supremacy. Final sets cannot be submitted after the closing date of the submission period
Submissions open 17 May – Closing date 7 June @ 11:59 pm GMT for both Elimination & Final sets
• Elimination Round: DJs submit a 2-minute elimination video.
• Final Round: All DJs to submit a 6-minute final video.
• This DJ competition is for solo entry only.
• Only analogue equipment is allowed with the turntable as the central instrument. No Digital Vinyl Systems. No laptops. No vinyl controllers. DJ routines must be composed using vinyl records.
• Any DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be automatically rejected.
• Any video that is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
• Judges will decide which DJs advance to each round and the winner, second and third places.
04. 2022 DMC World Foundation Championship
June 8 – July 30
This competition is for the DJs who can balance funky flavour with technical skills. DJs will be judged on selection, showmanship, musicality, creativity, originality and composition.

Submissions open 8 June – Closing date – 29 June @ 11:59 pm GMT for both Elimination & Final sets

• No pre-production.
• This DJ competition is for solo entry only.
• All DJ equipment is permitted.
• No button-pushing.
• Any DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be rejected.
• Any video that is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
• Judges will decide which DJs advance to each round and the winner, second and third places.

July 1 – August 27
Dedicated entirely to the signature sound of the Hip Hop DJ, a pure scratch DJ battle!

06. 2022 DMC DJ Battle For World Supremacy
August 15 – October 22
Our classic head to head competition where DJs battle round for round until only one DJ is left standing.
• Submissions for Elimination Videos Open 15 August – Close 22 August @ 11:59 pm GMT
• Elimination DJs submit 1 round of 60 seconds video Judges select 8 DJs to advance.
• Quarter Finals: Top 8 will be paired for 2 rounds of 60 seconds each.
8 DJs will be told on 6 September to prepare 2 rounds of 60 seconds each and to submit them on 12 September, closing time @ 11:59 pm GMT
• Semi-Finals: Top 4 will be paired for 2 rounds of 90 seconds each.
4 DJs will be told on 20 September to prepare 2 rounds of 90 seconds each and to submit them on 26 September, closing time @ 11:59 pm GMT
• Final: Top 2 will be paired for 2 rounds of 90 seconds each.
2 DJs will be told on 4 October to prepare 2 rounds of 90 seconds each and to submit them on 10 October, closing time @ 11:59 pm GMT
• This DJ competition is for solo entry only (no teams of DJs allowed)

July 1 – September 10
DJs compete nationally for a place in the DMC World Elimination.

There are no restrictions on creative film presentation, for example – multi-camera angles, blue/green screen techniques, video back-drop, providing the recording is non-stop from start to finish.

08. 2022 DMC World DJ Team Championship
September 19 – November 5
Crews of between 2 and 4 DJs perform on turntables to perform the most amazing turntablist compositions.

DJs will need to submit their Elimination and Final sets together for all competitions except the Battle for World Supremacy.
World Team DJs only submit a Final 6 Minute routine, no Elimination set is required. Final sets cannot be submitted after the closing date of the submission period.
Submissions open 19 September – Closing date 10 October @ 11:59 pm GMT for Final 6 minute set.
• Final: Teams will submit a 6-minute video. Deadline: October 10th @ 11:59 pm GMT.
• All DJ equipment is permitted.
• Any DJ video submission cannot be more than 4 seconds past the required time limit or it will be rejected.
• Any video that is submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
• Video editing is not accepted (DJs cannot edit two or more different performances into one set). DJs must submit a non-stop performance. 09. 2022 DMC World Eliminations & Final
October 11 – December 3

Submissions open 11 October – closing date 31 October @ 11:59 pm GMT for both Elimination (2 minutes) & Final (6 minute) sets
• 19 November – World Eliminations
• 3 December – World Final
